Anytime you’re trying to heal something in your body, your mindset is going to be a big factor.
If your mindset is off or you’re feeling like you’re in a negative headspace, it can make that healing process more challenging.
Think about it: when you’re having a really bad day, you’re feeling sad, upset, or just down in general, it can be really hard to motivate yourself to do things like exercise or cook a healthy meal. It’s way easier to just lay on the couch and eat junk food. It’s human nature - we’ve all been there!
But even beyond that, your body hears every word you say and think. If you’re constantly thinking negative thoughts or saying negative things about your body and health out loud, your body is listening.
If you keep saying “I’ll never lose weight”, “I’ll never get my hair back”, “I’ll never get better”... you might be right.
The law of attraction definitely rings true for healing your thyroid.
I have fallen into the trap myself of negative thoughts when trying to heal my own thyroid. Frustration and anger can definitely take hold and you get wrapped up in a vicious cycle of telling yourself that your thyroid will never get better.
Again, it’s totally normal to have these feelings, especially when you’ve been dealing with health issues for a long time. And while a negative mindset isn’t going to necessarily cause or worsen your symptoms, it’s important to be conscious of how this mindset might be stalling your progress.
At the same time, if
all
you’re doing is thinking positive thoughts, and telling yourself you’ll lose weight and get better, that’s not quite enough to heal the thyroid. There’s still a lot of other work to do.
But a positive mindset is a main ingredient in the recipe for a
happy, healthy thyroid.
One thing I personally do every morning, and what I get my clients to do, is repeat positive affirmations to myself as soon as I wake up.
Mine are: My thyroid is healing. My thyroid is healthy. I am healing. I am healthy.
I pulled together
this blog post with a long list of motivational quotes that might serve as a great positive affirmation for you!
And then continue to reaffirm these sentiments by repeating them to yourself throughout the day.
Especially if you feel a bout of frustration come on. Try to take a step back. Take a breath. And say something positive and uplifting to yourself.
I promise it will make you feel better, both physically and mentally.
